Cooked in the air fryer for ultimate convenience, the smashed burgers are topped with melted cheese, fresh veggies, and served alongside golden fries and crispy corn ribs. With a simple salad to complete the meal, it's an easy way to bring everyone together around the table for a satisfying and fun dining experience.
Tip the Fries into one basket and set to cook for 4 minutes.
Put both whole corn in a microwave-safe bowl with half a cup of water and microwave on high for 2 minutes.
Next, hold each cob of corn on its end and carefully slice down the middle with a sharp knife. Place flat side down on a chopping board and slice lengthways again, so each is in four ‘ribs’. In a bowl, sprinkle the corn ribs with paprika, cumin and salt, and spray all over with low-fat cooking spray. Put them in the base of the empty air fryer basket.
’Smash’ the burgers. Lay each quarter-pounder between two sheets of greaseproof paper and use a fish slice or heavy saucepan to press it flat (to around 1/2cm thick). Lay the burgers on top of the corn ribs and set both baskets – the other containing the Fries – to cook for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, toss the salad leaves with the olive oil and balsamic.
Shake the basket containing the Fries. Remove the burgers, shake the corn ribs, and return the burgers on top, other side up. Set both to cook for another 5 minutes.
Two minutes before the burgers are done, lay 2 slices of cheddar on top of each patty and return to the air fryer so it melts. You may need to do this in batches if they’re layered up.
Slice your burger buns, spread with ketchup and layer them up with a cheesy patty, lettuce, tomato slices and gherkins.
Serve with Crispy French Fries, corn ribs and the dressed salad.
