Why it's All Good

What are the traffic lights on the front of the pack?

To help busy shoppers choose a healthier diet, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) recommend that food manufacturers use a colour code on the front of their packs to help people easily identify the fat, saturated fat, salt and sugar content of the product. The colour coding is based on traffic light colours: Green means a low content per 100g, Amber a medium content and Red a high content. This means that when shopping we can compare two products at a glance and go for the healthier one.

At McCain we use the traffic light system on all our products. You might be pleasantly surprised to see how many green lights we get for our Oven Chips and other potato products. In fact, our Rustic Oven Chips get four green lights for all four nutrients.

You'll find traffic lights and GDA information on the front of all our packs.
