Chips get green light!

The first chip to score 'green' on all four counts of the new Food Standards Agency traffic light scoring scheme is launched today.

McCain Rustic Oven Chips are just 3% fat and are the first and only frozen oven chip with the skin left on to maintain even more of the vitamin and mineral goodness of the potato. They contain no cholesterol and can help achieve a healthy, balanced diet without too much sacrifice.

Made from just two natural ingredients – potatoes and sunflower oil – and with the skin left on, McCain Rustic Oven Chips have a fuller flavour with the natural goodness of the potato maintained. Straight from the field, the potatoes are prepared simply – washed and chopped – just as you would in your kitchen at home.

McCain Rustic Oven Chips are set to become a cornerstone of the new McCain ‘It’s All Good’ campaign for healthy eating, launched in September 2006. This £20 million product and packaging reformulation has seen McCain set the standard for the food industry by being the first company ever to use both the ‘Guideline Daily Amounts’ percentage system and the ‘Traffic Lights’ scoring scheme (from the Food Standards Agency) on the same packaging to enhance customer decision-making at point of purchase.

Rustic Oven Chips are a healthy addition to the McCain ‘less than 5% fat’ range, which already includes regular McCain Oven Chips, Crinkle Cut Oven Chips, 5% Fat Wedges and Oven Roasts.
