23rd July 2007
McCain Foods today announces that all its chips will be made from 100% British potatoes from October 2007.
McCain works with more than 300 British farmers and for the past five years 95% of its products have been made from British potatoes. This commitment to 100% British potatoes is a natural progression and will reassure consumers about the origin of its chips.
Nick Vermont, Regional CEO for McCain Foods comments, ‘We have had a close working relationship with British farmers for generations and are pleased to be able to use 100% British potatoes for all of our chips. We are proud to be able to say to our customers that our chips are a quality British product made with the very best simple, natural ingredients.’
Starting from October shoppers will see a ‘100% British Potatoes logo and the Red Tractor logo on pack. The Assured Food Standards stamp of approval lets customers know that the potatoes used to produce McCain chips have been grown to high quality standards.
The campaign will be supported by a multi million pound marketing spend, which includes a billboard and online campaign from 10th September 2007.
McCain’s commitment to 100% British Potatoes supports the ‘It’s all good’ campaign, launched in 2006.
