  • Wheat Starch

All green plants make starch naturally and when we eat vegetables it's the starch that gives us our energy. Wheat, potatoes, maize and tapioca all contain natural starch. We use wheat starch in the same way as flour – to thicken our batters and make them crispy.
  • Modified Starches

These starches are improved to make them work better. We use them to make our batter crispy.
  • Dextrose

The chips are briefly dipped in hot water containing a very small amount of dextrose, a simple sugar that helps maintain the sugar levels naturally present in the potato, making sure that when you cook the chips they are a consistent golden colour.
  • Raising Agents (E450, E500)

Typical ingredients found in baking powder used in our batter to make it light and crispy.

  • Disodium Diphosphate

To ensure our products don’t discolour during preparation we also use a simple processing agent called Disodium Diphosphate. This acts much like the ‘lemon juice’ you might use on the fruit and veg in your kitchen to stop them discolouring.
